Going to the hospital is a scary experience for most people. The fear that medical personnel might find something wrong with your body is frightening enough, but the added worry about how to afford treatment makes it even harder.

In general, there is trepidation in going to a hospital. Stephanie Hinkle, Chief Operating Officer, Foundation Executive Director of Memorial Hospital of Carbon County (MHCC) and Lisa Harding, Patient Advocate, are two employees at MHCC who understand this.

They have different jobs, but both empathize with a person thinking about coming to the hospital for treatment.

The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) has confirmed a third case of measles in Wyoming. The most recent case is related to an unvaccinated adult from Carbon County. Measles is a highly contagious infection that can cause severe illness. The person was exposed outside of the United States.

The weather has been getting hot lately and making the flora dry. Rattlesnakes are being sighted in Rawlins and Hanna town limits and in truth, rattlers could be found in other Carbon County municipalities.

Kerry Ashment’s last hospital that he worked at was in San Diego. There may be some residents in Carbon County when they learn San Diego was the last place he lived, may be questioning if he is cut out for Rawlins and Carbon County.

He is.

First, he and his wife are from Cash Valley, outside of Logan, Utah. He met his wife at a University dance.

Medicine Bow Clinic has New Face

Samantha “Sam” Santy has come a long way to come to practice at the Medicine Bow Clinic.  She is from upstate New York, Saratoga County. Although she was born in Queens, New York City, her upbring and education was in a much more rural area. 

Santy graduated from Siena College with her undergraduate degree.
