The Hanna Town Council on March 12 at the Hanna Town Hall. The meeting started a half hour earlier because of a public hearing of a transfer of a liquor license for Dingy Dan’s and later at 6:15 a hearing for the opening of bids for two public works trucks for the town of Hanna.

The regularly scheduled meeting started at 6:30 p.m.

Congresswoman Harriet Hageman understands the complexities of Carbon County because she is no stranger to the area. In her earlier years, she once lived in Carbon County.

“I actually lived at Walcott Junction one summer when I was paving the highway at I-80 to Hanna,” Hageman said. “Also, for a period of time that summer, I lived on the third floor of the Hotel Wolf.”

Supreme Court Unifies In Vote If Not In Opinion

Hanna Town Council Holds Swift Meeting, Approves Grants and Adjusts Fees

The Hanna Town Council convened promptly at 6:30 p.m. on February 13 at the Hanna Town Hall, marking one of the swiftest sessions in recent memory, with the meeting wrapping up in just under 40 minutes.

The agenda, relatively light in content, garnered unanimous approval, as did the minutes from the previously held January 9 gathering.

The Medicine Bow Town Council had a long night ahead of it on Monday night, February 11. The meeting started at 6:30 p.m. at the Medicine Bow Community Hall. The agenda had several important issues to discuss and decide upon.

Council member Sharon Kahl resigned due to health reasons. The Council now has an open seat.

The town of Encampment gathered for its scheduled town meeting on February 8, 2024, with a range of topics on the agenda, from civic appointments to infrastructure updates and community initiatives.

A significant moment of the meeting was the swearing-in of Susan Munson to the Town Council, filling a vacant position on the board. 

Search Ends in Tragedy

The search for Sabrina Geller, a former student at Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) Middle/High School and a current University of Wyoming student, has concluded tragically as her body was discovered in the Vedauwoo area. The Albany County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the grim discovery on February 14th.

In the early afternoon hours of Friday, February 8th, the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office received a satellite communication device emergency SOS activation in the Sierra Madre Range, southwest of Bridger Peak, in an area locally known as “Avalanche Alley.”
