Bobbie Herman is a rancher a little ways from downtown Elk Mountain. She grew up on a ranch, and knew this was the life for her even when she was small.

“Honestly, this year, I have spent a lot of time getting people into the classroom to talk to the kids about certificate degrees,” Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) Ag teacher Ranelle Hindman said. “One year you go and get a technical skill and you can walk away with the equivalent of a degree, that says this person is certified in whatever it is.”
The Iron Creek Bison Company (ranch) is a remarkable place in many ways. First, the land is raising bison. Those magnificent animals that were found on the plains of the United States and even in the woods of the East, which were slaughtered to almost extinction.
Taylor Malcolm is one of those impressive kids Carbon County who has been involved in a lot of activities. Recently she received the honor of being the Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer at the Carbon County Fair.
Malcolm said she started showing off lambs when she was six or seven.
Not Glue Horse Rescue, Inc. (NGHRI), a non-profit based in Medicine Bow, has just started its mission to rescue, re-home or offer sanctuary to horses who have been abused, abandoned, and or neglected.
