Young Speed Racer in Rawlins

McCoy Puckett is 10 years old and a go-kart racer out of Rawlins.

“My great-grandfather used to drag race, so that is what made me want to do this,” McCoy said. “Also watching it on TV.”

McCoy said his parents are supportive of his desire to race.

There had been concern in the town of Hanna that the traditional King Coal Days celebration was going to disappear with the closure of the Hanna Recreation Center, since quite a lot of the event took place there. This cannot happen since there is no water available.

The Hanna Agricultural Resource Team (HART), a nonprofit organization known for cultivating community through its garden and local events, has awarded its annual Garden Club Scholarship to Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School senior Jeannine Lameraux.

“We knocked it outside the park,” Chris Osborne, President and GM of the Canary Barn. “The purpose of the event was really twofold. One, it was an unveiling of the renovated Canary Barn at the Saratoga Ranch, which is our ranch.”

Osborne gives a quick history of the Canary Barn, but then says to go to the website, where the history he tells is the same.

P.O.W. Flag Stolen

On Memorial Day weekend, the Hanna Senior Center discovered their P.O.W. flag was stolen when it was displayed as a part of the Avenue of the Flags the Center puts up every year to honor the military since the VFW disbanded.

The Center said taking care of the flags is not inexpensive.

Rolling into Retirement after 37 Years Behind the Wheel

Cindy Larson has been in charge of the school buses in the North of Carbon County School District No 2 (CCSD2) for 20 years. She has been driving a school bus for the district for 37 years.

She will be missed.

The North threw her a surprise party at Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School May 12 and Larson admits to being surprised.
