Garage Sale Helps Stock Medicine Bow Food Pantry

The Medicine Bow Food Pantry supplies residents of Carbon County with food, which, as prices continue to climb, is essential to many. The funds raised are to help the Food Pantry get more food in addition to what she collects from the Food Bank of Wyoming and other businesses that contribute. Last year, the garage sale collected $700.

Carbon County Walk to End Alzheimer’s Goes On Despite Storms

Thunderstorms may have forced the third annual Carbon County Walk to End Alzheimer’s indoors, but they did not stop area residents from coming together Sept. 18 to raise awareness and support for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

Turkey on menu for October 5th ‘Gather at the Table’

Stuffed turkey crepe roll-ups with a-la-king sauce, loaded green bean casserole, mac-n-cheese salad, spiced carrot cupcake with cream cheese and pecan frosting, plus a beverage are on the menu when we next gather at the table Monday, Oct. 5th, from 5 to  6:30 p.m. in the Saratoga Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at corner of Third & Bridge.

Taste of Wyoming Serves Up Another Success

The Taste of Wyoming came a bit earlier this year. In past years since its inception in 2022, the event has been held during the first week of October. The earlier date, which was on September 12, had a strong flow of people coming to enjoy the food and vendors as soon as the gates opened at the Carbon County Fairgrounds.

Sisters Candy France, Jana Cook Named Grand Marshals of UW Homecoming Parade

Two sisters -- who each served as president of the University of Wyoming Alumni Association (UWAA) Board of Directors -- have been selected as the grand marshals of the UW Homecoming parade.

Candy (Carroll) France and Jana (Carroll) Cook will lead the annual parade, a cherished Homecoming tradition, Saturday, Sept. 26. This year’s theme is “Cowboy Fever.”

A Lesson in Flags and Remembrance

At Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School on September 11, students learned about retiring flags.

On this special day of memory, students got a 9/11 memorial lesson on the Ceremony of Final Tribute for an American flag and the etiquette required by the American Legion Post 64 and Auxiliary.

  The Bow River FFA (Future Farmers of America) Alumni chapter got together in Hanna’s shopping center next to the restaurant Mike’s Deuces and had a crowd entertaining event to raise money for the FFA.

A Very Good Dog

Mike Lujan, head of the Carbon County Search and Rescue West division, had driven from the Rawlins area with a handful of other volunteers on August 22 to help look for Derek Schaff, a 43-year-old man from Gillette who had disappeared about two months earlier in the Weston Hills Recreational Area about 30 miles north of Gillette.
