Moving into Fall Means Increased Bear Activity

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is currently experiencing an uptick in black bear activity throughout the state.

Bears are currently entering hyperphagia, a biologically-driven period in late summer and fall where they begin to forage and build fat reserves for winter. During this time, bears will consume up to 20,000 calories a day.

Comments Open for State Wildlife Action Plan

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department invites public comment on a draft version of Wyoming’s 2027 State Wildlife Action Plan — also known as SWAP. Public comment will be accepted through July 27.

On June 30, a virtual webinar will be held to provide opportunities for public comment and discussion. This webinar will be held from 1 - 2 p.m.
