As the holiday season unfolds, many people are familiar with the tradition of giving trees, where they have the opportunity to make charitable contributions in the form of gifts or donations. In our area, these giving trees have been successful in fulfilling the needs of various charitable organizations, spreading the spirit of generosity throughout the county.

On Monday, December 18th, the Grumpy Italian Eatery brimmed with holiday cheer as it transformed into a bustling hub of wrapping paper and snacks. Steve Deorio, the restaurant’s owner, joined forces with Pepsi Co. of Rawlins and Isotoner to bring comfort to the Care Centers in Saratoga and Rawlins through a thoughtful initiative.

Carbon County is huge and probably not the place a traveler wants to get stuck. A lot of our towns have limited hotel space and almost no bus service. Rawlins is the exception to both truths, but even then, until recently, it was not a town to get stuck in either.

The Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County had its 4th Annual Festival of Trees at the Higher Education Building in Rawlins. Boys and Girls Club Director Theresa Pacheco was very pleased with the turnout on Saturday, December 9.

The doors opened for the event at 10 a.m. and went on until 1 p.m.

Local artisan donates hand-carved cat sculpture for Pet Partners raffle

Local artist Jarred James has generously donated a hand-crafted cat sculpture to Pet Partners of Carbon County. The carved feline is set to be raffled off, with proceeds benefiting the organization’s mission to support the Rawlins Rochelle Animal Shelter and reduce the number of unwanted litters in Carbon County.

Abby Perry Ag and Natural Resources Extension Educator with the University of Wyoming and Rawlins resident received the city’s Monthly Community Builder Award on November 21.

She is donating the award money to the Rawlins Senior Center.
