Carbon County School District 2 Food Service is inviting area ranchers and livestock producers to take part in its Ranch to School initiative, “Donate a Beef, Feed Our Future.”

The district has been awarded a state processing grant for locally donated beef and is seeking donations of cows, bulls, steers or heifers to be used in school meals throughout the district.

Donated beef will help provide students with nutritious, locally sourced meals while giving donors the opportunity to receive a tax write-off. District officials say the program creates a direct partnership between local producers and schools, keeping resources within the community and supporting student nutrition.

Those interested in donating livestock are encouraged to contact Sally Wells at 307-326-5271 ext. 1108 for more information.

District officials expressed appreciation to community members for their continued commitment to supporting local schools and students through the Ranch to School program.
