Prom, short for promenade, is a quintessential American high school tradition - a celebratory dance party marking a pivotal moment in a teenager’s life.

Though prom may seem like a modern phenomenon, its origins can actually be traced back thousands of years. Ancient civilizations like Greece and Rome held lavish banquets to celebrate a young man’s coming of age.
