A massive plume of dark, acrid smoke filled the sky above the Saratoga Gun Range on Wednesday as a tire fire of unknown origin broke out within the facility’s earthen berms, alarming residents for miles around.

The Rawlins Town Council held a work session Tuesday before the regular Town Council Meeting to discuss plans for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) parcel located just north of Interstate 80 on the town’s south side. The 20-acre parcel has been designated for use by the Streets Department, but modifications to the land’s use are under consideration.
