The Tigers did not play this week. They will face Guernsey-Sunrise on September 18 at the Vikings home field.

Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM)

The Miners did not play this week. They will be at home against Farson-Eden.

The Medicine Bow Town Council met on September 8 at 6 p.m. at the Medicine Bow Community Center.

Mayor Justin George was absent and Pro-tem Mayor Trevor Strauch ran the meeting. Council members Lee Cook, Crystal Mayfield and Kristi Wickizer were all present.

Much of the agenda was tabled because the Council wanted to have the mayor present.

The season has started in earnest, although Encampment did not play a game this week. They will face Little Snake on September 23. 

Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) played a conference game when they faced Rock River on September 6. They won. They will face Rock River again on September 19.

Encampment

The Tigers played the Riverside Rebels on September 5 and won by a convincing 44 to 6. It was a non-conference game and Encampment is undefeated with a 2-0 start. The Tigers will face Guernsey-Sunrise next on September 18.

The Tigers played the Burlington Huskies on August 29 in a home game where they pleased the home crowd with a win of 29 to 8.  It was a non-conference game but the Huskies are a team that has made the State championship in the past couple of years. Head coach Keagan Willford has to be glad with this season’s start.

The Buck Springs Arena was packed on Saturday, August 23, as the 25th Annual Saratoga Bullfest delivered another night of high-stakes rides, big scores, and close calls.

The open bullriding event once again paired outstanding riders with rank stock, proving why Bullfest has become a staple in the Valley’s late-summer calendar.

Carbon County schools showcased their athletic prowess at the regional track and field championships, with student-athletes from both districts delivering standout performances.

Quite a lot of teams competed in the Bobcat Invite in Thermopolis. 25 in total. All Carbon County teams in attendance did well. It was a chance to see what athletes and teams will probably be competing in State.

“I think our main highlight was we officially need to book a boys room for State,” Jackie Jones, head coach for Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School said. “Our boys 4 X 800 pre-qualified on Friday, which is Hunter Widdison, Corbin William, Jared Nelsen and Carson Weatherford.”

She said they don’t have the top time in the State, but a very decent one.
