The Rawlins Outlaws soccer teams capped off a successful weekend with strong showings in both varsity and junior varsity matches, marked by clutch performances, teamwork, and plenty of grit.
Track Meet Draws Carbon County Schools for Day of Records and Rivalry in Saratoga
Several schools from across Carbon County competed at a track meet hosted by Saratoga High School on May 2, taking advantage of ideal spring weather and a scenic backdrop at the Burt Willford and Laurie Johnston Memorial Track Meet.
Jackie Jones, the head coach of the Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School track team is fairly pleased with her team this year. She has 25 students that have gone out for track.
Fired up by “Red Out” day on Saturday, the Riverton girls soccer team rolled to a 6-1 win over Newcastle behind a standout performance from Malene Nielsen.
The Hanna Elementary School’s (HES) track behind the school played host to middle school students from Encampment, Hanna Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM), Rock River and Saratoga.
The events included running track, shot put, the discus and the long jump. This all started at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15.

The second class of recipients for the Scotty Scott Outstanding Citizen Awards will be honored during halftime of the 2025 Wyoming Shrine Bowl All-Star Football Game, set for June 14 at Cheney Alumni Field in Casper.
With just two Central Rocky Mountain Regional (CRMR) rodeos left, the University of Wyoming Cowgirls are the closest they’ve been to the regional lead all season, while the Cowboys solidified their chances for a seventh consecutive CRMR team title.
The Rawlins High School girls soccer team dominated in their 5-0 victory over Pinedale on Tuesday. Malene Nielsen led the offensive charge, scoring an impressive hat trick to earn the team’s offensive #GRIT player of the game honors. Nielsen was assisted on one of her goals by Nataly Pineda.
On Saturday, March 22nd, the Rawlins outdoor track team traveled to Fort Collins to compete in our first meet of the season.
“We competed against 30 other teams from the Colorado and Wyoming area making it one of the biggest meets we will attend this year,” Rawlins track coach Hayden Hohnholt said. “Due to spring break,only about half the team traveled to the meet.”
