Rawlins High School Senior Signs to Swim for Ottawa University Surprise

Colton Daniels, a senior at Rawlins High School, has signed to swim for Ottawa University Surprise in Arizona.

Daniels, known for his exceptional swimming abilities, made the decision to join Ottawa University’s swim team after a thorough evaluation of his options.

The basketball season for all Carbon County school teams came to a close on the weekend of March 9. The Rawlins played Lovell for the consolation game but lost to the Bulldogs 66 to 43. But before they met Lovell, they had two games before. One they lost and the other they won.

The first was Powell who entered the tournament 23-0.

Rawlins Outlaws Dominate Glenrock, Advance to State Championship Showdown Against Undefeated Powell

In the first game that the Rawlins boys basketball played Glenrock on February 29 in regionals, the Outlaws jumped out in the 1st quarter 20 to 3 and the Herders never recovered.

After the dust cleared in 1A regionals, there were not a lot of teams continuing on to play at State from Carbon County. Only the Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Lady Rattler girls basketball team from Carbon County School District No 1 and the Saratoga Panther boys basketball from Carbon County School District No 2 were to continue on.

In 1A basketball, five Carbon County teams advance to regionals, but as the dust settles, only two are moving forward to State: the Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) High School girls basketball team and the Saratoga High School boys basketball team.

Wrestling Teams from Carbon County Make Mark at State Championships

In a display of their prowess on the wrestling mat, all three high schools with wrestling programs in Carbon County secured placements at the State Championships held in Casper.

Rawlins High School, Saratoga High School, and Hanna, Elk Mountain (HEM) High School saw their hopes realized as their athletes showcased their skills in this highly competitive sport.

It was a good week for most Carbon County High School Varsity basketball teams with the exception of the Encampment boys’ team and even then, the week started well for them. The regular season is over and now come regionals.

Wrestling Teams Excel at Regionals, Advance to State Championships

Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School’s wrestling squad demonstrated their prowess at the regional championships, with head coach Ranelle Hindman praising the team’s performance. Notably, two of the four male wrestlers secured spots in the state championships, alongside one female wrestler.

The boys’ basketball 1 A Southwest Conference is still not decided who will go to Regionals and which team will stay. Encampment and Little Snake River (LSRV) have to win the game coming up, if they are going. They play each other. If Encampment loses, they are not going on. If LSRV loses, it will be a pigtail for them.

The Saratoga High School gymnasium buzzed with energy on February 9 and 10 as it played host to the highly anticipated Carbon County Wrestling Tournament. Featuring a dozen formidable teams, including representatives from two Carbon County high schools, the event showcased the raw athleticism and determination of young wrestlers.

The boys’ basketball 1 A Southwest Conference is regarded as the most competitive in the State. All five teams would be going to Regionals if they were in another conference is the common thought among fans and coaches.

Besides one team not going, the seeding will be important as brackets are formed for regionals. A higher seed plays a lower seed.
