At the Elk Mountain Town Hall, on November 2, the Carbon County Republican Central Committee (CCRCC) met to decide who was going to take Byron Barkhurst’s position of County Commissioner. He resigned on October 17.

Carbon County loses a Commissioner

“Byron was very good as a commissioner,” Sue Jones, Carbon County Commissioner Chairwoman said. “He learned the job and took it seriously.”

Chairwoman Jones is referring to Byron Barkhurst, until October 17, a Carbon County Commissioner. 

His term was due to end on January 1, 2025.

The Rawlins Town Council convened at 7:30 p.m. on October 17 at City Hall.

During the public session, Debbie Weickum, the wife of the mayor, informed the Council that the underground walking tunnel she and the mayor had painted had been successfully completed. The Council expressed gratitude to both her and the mayor for their dedicated efforts.

The Medicine Bow Town Council met at 6:30 p.m. on October 9 at the Medicine Bow Community Center.

Mayor Bradley Buum, Councilmembers Justin George and Trevor Strauch were in attendance. Councilmember Sharon Kahl was absent. There is a vacant council seat.

Hanna Town Council draws massive crowd

The Hanna Town Council convened at 6:30 p.m. on October 10 at the Hanna Town Hall, with a remarkable turnout. Over 70 residents packed the meeting room, forcing nearly a dozen attendees to stand throughout the proceedings. Mayor Jon Ostling presided over the meeting, joined by Council members William Dys, Jayson Nordquist, Roger Hawks, and Sammy Sikes. 

Baggs Town Council Meeting Highlights
