A sure sign that summer is fading away is the beginning of the new school year. Carbon County School District No 2 (CCSD2) started meetings with teachers in the first week of August.

Along with teachers who have returned, these meetings introduce new faculty who are taking on positions at CCSD2.

The University of Wyoming will welcome nearly 1,200 students and their families during residence hall move-in Friday, Aug. 21, from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 22, from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Community members should expect increased traffic around campus throughout the event, along with temporary road closures to ensure the safety of students, families, volunteers and staff.

The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) at Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) held a silent auction at the Virginian Hotel on Saturday, June 6 to help the five students who made Nationals realize their dream to compete for national recognition in Washington D.C. this summer.

Graduation season came to a close in Carbon County School District 1 in May, with ceremonies at Little Snake River Valley High School, Victory High School and Rawlins High School honoring seniors and marking the end of the 2025–26 school year.

Carbon County School District No 2 had all its high school graduation ceremonies on the same day, but at different times. This allowed members of the school board and residents who wanted to see all the graduations an opportunity to attend.

HEM started at 1:30 on May 17. It was on a Sunday.

Saratoga High School’s Class of 2026 celebrated graduation this week with prayers, reflections and performances highlighting perseverance, community and faith as students prepared to take their next steps.

The ceremony opened with an invocation asking for guidance and strength for the graduating class.
