Fried chicken on menu for next ‘Gather at the Table’

The Good Lord willing, and barring another emergency, everyone is urged to “Gather at the Table” to enjoy a free meal of fried chicken, potato salad, cooked greens, buttermilk cornbread, hot fudge cake and drinks on Monday, Feb. 5th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Saratoga Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at the corner of Third & Bridge Sts.

Barlow Curtis and his wife Dana Bailey are working at City Market in Rawlins in different shifts because their daughter, Allison “Ally” Bailey, has health conditions that require one of them to be available in case she needs to be hospitalized.

Kiwanis Ice Rink opens at Veterans’ Park

The much-anticipated Kiwanis Ice Rink officially opened its gates this past weekend, offering families a delightful pass time. The rink, now in its fourth year of operation at Veterans’ Park in Saratoga, promises a winter wonderland of activity for children and adults alike.

Chili Cook-Off for Elk Mountain Fire Department

Elk Mountain hosted an exciting chili cook-off event on Saturday, January 31st, with ten enthusiastic competitors. The event kicked off at 6 p.m. and took place at the Elk Mountain Fire Station. This chili cook-off, followed by an auction later in the evening, served as a valuable fundraiser for the Elk Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.

During the previous holiday season in Carbon County, unfavorable weather conditions posed challenges for residents looking to engage in various activities. However, this year brought a welcome change. The improved weather allowed residents to travel and visit their family and friends who lived at considerable distances.

Maria King, the mother of Richard King, faced what no parent wants to face. She had to bury her son Richard on December 16 at the Medicine Bow Cemetery.

He was killed on November 30, as the day was just starting. On his way to work in Laramie, he and his brother-in-law, Angel Solaria, were struck by a Jeep driven by Zachary Klar who was on his way to work.

Dreams can come true, but sometimes a person is not there to see their dream realized. This is the case for Joshua (JR) Rodriguez of Rawlins. As a young adult, he was an avid skateboarder. He so passionately believed that the city of Rawlins needed a skatepark, he went before the Rawlins Council and put forth the idea of having one in town.
