On Sunday, August 30th, 2026, dispatchers with the Carbon County Unified Dispatch Center received a distress call from a hypothermic hiker stranded on Medicine Bow Peak.

Dispatchers immediately began coordinating resources, and deputies with the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office responded to establish an Incident Command Post.
