There is a tradition of field days in Carbon County School District No. 2. (CCSD2).

Hanna Elementary had a field day last week on May 21, that included all the elementary children from the north of CCSD2. It was an event the elementary kids look forward to every year.

The Future Farmers of America (FFA) for Bow River had their banquet on May 13 with a full house at the Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School. 

Besides the food and ceremony, there were also items to be auctioned off which had been made by the Bow River Chapter.

The I-80 Extravaganza hosted its fourth annual beef clinic and jackpot show April 26–27 at the Carbon County Fairgrounds Multi-Plex, drawing young livestock exhibitors from across the region.

On April 17th, Carbon County Fourth Graders attended the 30th Annual Ag Expo hosted by Carbon County CowBelles. The CowBelles believe that the Ag Expo is vital for our county students to learn about agriculture and livestock production. Despite being in rural America, many of these students wouldn’t have the opportunity to be exposed to this vast industry if it were not for this event.

P.E. teachers Charli Hetherington and Frank Acre at the Rawlins Middle School (RMS) are doing their third annual Color Run to help raise money for their school.

“It benefits the student body at the middle school and the staff,” Hetherington said. “The P.E. department put this fundraiser on. The kids seem to enjoy having this event at the end of the school year.”

Corbin Williams, a student at Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School was selected to be the State of Wyoming’s president of the FCCLA. “FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America,” Williams said. “It is based on a national career and technical student organization for young men and women in family and consumer sciences education.”
