A 72-year-old man from North Carolina was found dead last Monday morning in the “not-so-hot” pool at the Saratoga Hot Springs, according to a press release from the Saratoga Police Department.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, an 18-year-old woman was killed after the car she was a passenger in struck two elk in a row on July 14 at 5:15 a.m. The woman who was killed was identified as Wyoming resident Samantha Brooks.

There were three others injured in the accident.

Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray

On July 22nd, United States District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl dismissed a federal lawsuit filed by Equality State Policy Center, through its attorney Marc Elias, against Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray challenging Wyoming House Bill 156, which requires proof of United States citizenship and proof of Wyoming residency to register to vote.

Town of Elk Mountain officials convened on Monday, July 14, at the Community Center to conduct their monthly council business meeting. Mayor Morgan Irene presided with council members Angie Hobbs and Craig Mustard present. Councilman Joe Neel was absent.

The Riverside Town Council meeting had a large attendance for a small town on July 10 at 6 p.m. at the Riverside Town Hall.

The crowd listened to reports by different boards, but most were not at the meeting for that.

They were there to learn about a new tower being proposed to be built. It was to be on Riverside resident Mark Rauterkus’ property.

“The Carbon County Emergency Management is deploying a newly discovered asset at Saratoga Days,” said Lenny Layman, Carbon County Emergency Management Manager. “We call it the OEM Echo trailer. It’s equipped with electronics and has a tower that extends about 30 feet.”

On June 9, the Medicine Bow Mayor Pro Tem Trevor Strauch called the town council meeting to order. Councilmembers Lee Cook, Crystal Mayfield, and Kristi Wickizer were present.

The Hanna Town Council regularly scheduled meeting, that was set to start at 6:30 p.m., was delayed while the Council went over the budget. The attendees to the meeting got to listen to a budget workshop where Treasurer Ann Calvert went over the budget for 2026.

Once complete at a little after 7 p.m., the Council found itself going into an Executive Session.
