When the Town of Elk Mountain has an indoor fundraiser, dance, celebration, or funeral reception, the Elk Mountain Firehouse is cleared out, and the function is held there.

That could be changing in the near future.

Sinclair Library Branch to Close Amid Budget Cuts

Carbon County Library Director Maria Wenzel has been with the Library for over four years and director for two years and she said, a very tough decision had to be made recently by herself and the Library Board.

Due to budgetary restrictions, a painful step had to be taken and a library branch had to be shut down.

That branch is Sinclair.

On September 16th, the Wyoming Secretary of State’s Office received a white substance in the mail. The office immediately contacted law enforcement, and was evacuated. The office has notified county election officials advising them to be aware of suspicious mail and to use extra precautions. Law enforcement is currently evaluating and investigating the incident.

In the early hours of Wednesday, September 11th, Mike’s Deuces, a well-known restaurant and bar in Hanna, was the scene of a troubling break-in. The incident occurred late Tuesday night and into the early morning, leaving the community shaken.

Carbon County Leaders Discuss Hospital Tax, Mentorship, and Heritage at September Meeting

The Carbon County Council of Governments (CCCOG) met at 6 p.m. on September 18 at the Hanna Town Hall. The towns not represented that evening were Medicine Bow, Sinclair and Baggs.

Chairman Morgan Irene and Elk Mountain representative took a moment out before starting the meeting to thank all the town’s representatives who had come to the meeting.
