The Elk Mountain Council convened on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, to divulge into the upcoming 2025-26 fiscal budget and to cover infrastructure projects. Mayor Morgan Irene first called a utility rates hearing session with council members Angie Hobbs, Joe Neel, and Wade Nelson all present. Councilman Craig Mustard was absent.

Robert Hayes, 83, of Hanna/Elmo was reported missing on March 1. He had last been seen at his residence on February 27 around 7:30 p.m.

Authorities and volunteers combed the area, with a focus on abandoned houses and outbuildings in Hanna.
