Free meal set for Labor Day

It just doesn’t get any better than this: gorgeous weather slowly ushering out summer, school starting, the beginning of the best season of the year—Indian Summer, Labor Day weekend, a soak in the Hobo Pool and all topped-off with a free meal and fellowship.

Sinclair Throws Epic 100th Birthday Bash

One of the largest celebrations in Carbon County in 2024 happened on August 17 in Sinclair, Wyoming. The town celebrated a 100-year-old birthday.

It was a year in the making according to Monte Thayer, the Parks and Recreation Director for the Town of Sinclair. There were a lot of meetings to get this day right. Thayer estimated there were probably 16 to 17 meetings to get this celebration pulled together.

Bikers Say Farewell to a Local Hero

Local bikers and the Lawson family gathered on Saturday, July 24, to honor Tony “T-Bone” Lawson, a beloved community member who recently passed away after a long battle with cancer. T-Bone was well-known for organizing the annual T-Bone Classic Poker Run, a charity event benefiting local children facing illness.

Last Saturday I was in Sinclair, Encampment and Medicine Bow. I had a chance to see a lot of the different landscapes that day of Carbon County under baby blue skies. There was a breeze that kept the temperature comfortable.

I remember as I finished my day driving to Medicine Bow how spectacular the day had been and I was glad my senses could enjoy it.

An officer in the Rawlins Police Department is making many in the Department proud. In July, Officer Colton Halacy and Sergeant Thomas Gamblin received a call for an unresponsive male; they responded, initiated CPR, and used an AED. Their efforts led to the patient being stabilized. They have been nominated for an RPD Life Saving Medal.

The Hanna Miner Memorial Recreation Center saw its last days open as a place that gave a lot of joy to the Hanna community.  

On Friday, July 26, there was a Community BBQ that started at 5 p.m. That evening there was a drum-a-thon contest finishing up with a glow run.

In observance of the “dog days of summer” everyone is invited to “Gather at the Table” for baked spaghetti, hearty salad, garlic bread, pineapple cake with cream cheese frosting and strawberries plus a choice of beverages Monday evening, August 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.in the Saratoga Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
