Carbon County Residents Embrace Summer with Outdoor Activities

As summer blossoms in Carbon County, the residents eagerly take advantage of the glorious weather to indulge in a variety of outdoor activities and community events. Since the arrival of balmy June, the air has been alive with the sizzle of backyard barbecues, as friends and neighbors gather to savor the flavors of the season and enjoy each other’s company.

On July 10, at midnight, WyoGives was able to raise $4,552,103 for non-profits in Wyoming. There were 7,317 donors who contributed.

WyoGives, an initiative of the Wyoming Nonprofit Network, brings the state together as one community to raise money and awareness for Wyoming’s nonprofits on one day each year and on one website. 

This year it was July 10.

Hot dogs on menu for Monday, July 1st “Gather at the Table”

Hot dogs with homemade chili and coleslaw plus toppings, loaded baked beans, summer mac-n-cheese salad, layered cheesecake and drinks are on the menu for the next “Gather at the Table” free meal Monday, July 1, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Saratoga Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.

In 2008, Staff Sgt Taylor E. Pickett crossed the divide in an improvised explosive attack in Kirkuk, Iraq with 18 other people. His mother, Sheri Peterson, started laying plans for Never Forget Park on of corner of Pic Pike Road and Southeast River Street in the parking area for Veterans’ Island Park. 

Bake Sale Proceeds Help Provide ‘Free Meals’

A fundraiser bake sale and homemade breakfast will be held on Saturday, June 29, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Saratoga Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at the corner of Bridge and Third Streets.

Early morning, June 14, Hanna resident Dorla Baker was out putting up 40 flags to make up the Avenue of Flags which is a staple for the community when honoring veterans.

“My heart is broken but what a great legacy he’s left,” the owner of Wild Visions Photo, April Avery said. “He truly loved Carbon County.”

Avery is talking about Billy O “Cowboy” Wadsworth who passed away on May 31. 

Cowboy was a human being whose passing touched a lot of people throughout the County.
